When Bush first ran for president in 2000, he criticized the Clinton administration for high fuel prices and said the president must “jawbone” oil producing nations and persuade them to increase production. At that time, oil was nearing $28 a barrel.

Bush Defeats Truman

A new USA Today/Gallop poll shows that George W. Bush has the highest disapproval rating of any U.S. President at 69%. The previous record was held by Harry Truman at a 67% disapproval rating. W also enjoys the highest approval rating at 90% during the 9/11 aftermath.
