A very tedious work assignment has pretty much consumed my attention for the last 2 months. The project is now complete, and I’m incredibly relieved. It was never my intention to go so long without writing on this blog, but I haven’t had much time outside of the occasional Twitter post or writing something up for Chattarati during the interim.
With that little disclaimer out of the way, I had a great Christmas. Spent some long, overdue time with the wife, and happened to score a Wii 4 days after Christmas due to an early morning assault on Wal-Mart. Also, Kristen and I re-arranged our apartment after purchasing a new TV. I’m digging the new layout, and hope to get some pictures up soon.
Coral Castles met for the first time in 2 weeks (minus Mr. Kincaid) last night, and worked on some new music while we get ready for an upcoming show with Mean Tambourines and Heypenny.
Work, Wife, Mario Kart, the apartment, and back to Coral Castles = Christmas Break 2k8.
Just wanted to take a moment and point any interested blog readers to my article, A Smarter Electric Company, about Chattanooga’s sole power provider — Electric Power Board — and its new direction in marketing, grid management, and telecommunications services. In Chattanooga, we have a lot of great businesses and institutions that place a premium on energy efficiency and minimizing their environmental impact. I’m trying my best to learn about the local systems we have in place and how they work together (or should), but all of those discoveries will be written about at Chattarati, and not here.
Still working on layout and all that good stuff as well as different types of RSS feeds that might make things easier for a few peeps out there.
If it was up to me, I would be reading & blogging all day long. Seeing as how I gotta pay the bills and all, posting may be light for the next week. To make matters worse, I haven’t touched my Reader in about 4 days, and I have three in-progress posts for Chattarati that are also on hold.
In the interim, keep an eye on my Twitter and Tumblr pages for updated douchebaggery.
Current mood: Longing for an entitlement lifestyle.
I’ve been futzing around with typography for the blog today. The current “design” — or lack thereof — is not permanent, but the general layout is more or less to my liking. Anyway, my brother-in-law (aka Napoli & Type) is going to be helping with the for-real typography and a logo (the link above is just fodder for the imagination). We’re gonna try and get it implemented sometime around December (dryan and safeguy, look forward to a string of asinine questions — you’ve been warned). But I want to take my time and make sure it’s exactly to my liking before I follow thru.
On another front, I’ve been trying to learn
Quicksilver, partly because of a post by
Jordan Lee. I’m not really good at it yet, but I’m already finding ways that it will improve my productivity at work once I become more accustomed to it (
here and
here).
