Confronting Energy Security
Dick Lugar, today at a Purdue Energy Forum:
The United States should recognize that steps to address energy security and climate change involve economic opportunities, not just constraints. New technologies offer pro-growth solutions that can benefit manufacturing and create value-added products and technologies to bolster U.S. exports. But we must have the will to develop and implement these technologies on an expedited basis.
Indiana’s senior Senator will deliver a pretty impressive speech later today. I disagree with some his conclusions about using federal funding “to jumpstart markets for new energy technologies,” but overall, he hits on a really important theme that clean energy solutions offer incredible economic opportunities and increased global security.
